His Majesty, Oba Rotimi Oluseyi Mulero, the Aboro of Ibese and Arole Asakanran, Olokojobi III, has been honoured with the Golden Stars Achievement Award as the Most Outstanding Traditional Ruler in Arts and Culture. The award was presented on Sunday in recognition of his outstanding contributions to cultural development and the advancement of traditional institutions in Ogun State.
Oba Mulero, in his acceptance speech, expressed surprise and gratitude for the recognition, saying he had never imagined that his efforts would gain such widespread attention beyond the boundaries of Ibese Land.
“I dedicate this award to Almighty God for giving me the grace to be an icon that the world is celebrating,” he said. “I equally use this beautiful moment to thank my family for their unwavering support. Though I never anticipated this recognition, I remain committed to the growth and development of my people.”
The award was presented by the Convener and CEO of the Golden Stars Award, Mr Jimoh Lateef, who described the monarch as a credible ambassador of Yoruba culture and tradition. He noted that the award committee carefully reviewed Oba Mulero’s track record before selecting him for the honour.
“Our vision is to celebrate individuals with immense contributions to societal growth and development,” Mr Lateef explained. “His Majesty’s leadership, philanthropy, and dedication to cultural values made him an outstanding choice.”
Lateef also emphasised that the honour goes beyond a ceremonial title, describing it as a recognition of the monarch’s commitment to the welfare of the poor and vulnerable in society.
Commenting on the event, the Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Aboro’s Palace, Ogbeni Ajibode Abd’kabir, said the award reflects the high regard in which the monarch is held, both within and beyond the Yewa community. He added that the palace considers it a proud moment not only for Ibese but for the entire Yewa North region.
