The Paramount Ruler of Yewaland and Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for signing into law the bill upgrading the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro-Yewa, to a Federal University of Technology.
In a press statement released through his Special Assistant on Media and Strategic Communications, ‘Deola Adeyemi, the monarch described the development as a landmark achievement for Yewaland, Ogun West, and the entire Ogun State.
Oba Olugbenle applauded President Tinubu’s visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to advancing education in Nigeria. He emphasized that the upgrade represents a turning point that will drive technological innovation, youth empowerment, and economic growth in the region.
“This is more than just a change of name,” Kabiyesi stated. “It is the beginning of a brighter future for our youths and a great leap forward for our community.”
The Olu Ilaro also showered praises on Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), acknowledging his tireless advocacy and legislative push that played a central role in bringing the vision to fruition. He extended his appreciation to members of the National Assembly for their collective support in the legislative process.
Kabiyesi further congratulated the Rector, Dr. Mukail Akinde, along with the institution’s staff, and called on all sons and daughters of Yewaland—both at home and abroad—to see the upgrade as a shared victory and an invitation to contribute to building a world-class university.
“This is a call to action. Let us rally behind this transformation and help position the new Federal University of Technology, Ilaro-Yewa, for global excellence,” he said.
